I absolutely love this shot taken just minutes before the ceremony where Hendrick’s mom shares a few moments with Kelly. Her father looks on beside them.

After portraits were taken around the Rotunda, everyone made their way toward the swimming pool area at Clifton for cocktails and hors d’ eouvres.

An outstanding toast by Kelly’s dad, followed by everyone raising their glasses. I love the two guests on the right who raise their imaginary glasses!

Last night while getting started on the editing process of a new wedding, I came across this image. I stopped for a moment to admire it. Then my mind started wandering and I got to thinking about being a little kid and growing up. As I began feeling nostalgic and wistful, somehow Erasure popped into my head, just like that. This particular Erasure tune began stirring inside my mind and taking me back…. to life after high school graduation and before my enlistment into the Army. Mid nineties. Enchanting times.

This song just evokes so much in me.

“Take Me Back” by Erasure

Into your heart
Into your heart
There are voices
Like water
Inside
Echoes

Take me back to the place
Where I once belonged
This could be anyplace
A place where you and I could sing this song
Take me back where I hear waterfalls flowing

Let me dive into the Lake
Where winter hides the show (Winter hides the snow)
Then comes the summertime
Fields of scarlet poppies grow
Take me back where I see butterflies toing froing

And the river flows
I am never gonna take it back again
And the river flows
I am never gonna get it back again

We don’t know anything
Trapped in a world full of strangers
Please don’t tell me anything
I’d rather fall into you

Let me sleep a little while
Underneath the trees (There’s a house in the tree by the lake)
And dream of dragonflies
Where the weary willow weeps for me
Take me back where I see dandelions blowing

And the river flows
I am never gonna take it back again

And the river flows
I am never gonna get it back again
And the river flows
I am never gonna take it back again

And the river flows
I am never gonna get it back again
And the river flows
I am never gonna take it back again

We don’t know anything
Trapped in a world full of strangers
Please don’t tell me anything (I will say)
I’d rather fall into you
